The reason I say that the test sequence Patrician runs fails on high resolutions, is that the image displayed is limited to the top left 800圆00 pixels. Thank you Draconyx, for your suggestions, I have Patrician 3 set to Windows XP, the only difference is that the top menu screen comes up correctly, instead of on half the screen and with only partial and distorted colour. Every other resolution I have tested has a distorting effect on the game in battles and such like. As far as the screen resolution goes - try changing it after you start playing, I found it provides a decent resolution at 1024 x 768 and a slightly fuzzier resolution with 800 圆00. Hmm, I would recommend putting the settings in compatability to windows xp - that almost always works - the stand by issue can and does happen to many games and can usually be fixed by several methods. If there was a move to write an updated version, I would be happy to contribute to that project. Kalypso doesn't appear to want to put the effort in on this one it seems. I have a working game though fustrating, as other games of similar age do still work and are kept up to date. None of the graphics modes work, except 800圆00, in the test sequence Patrician runs when first installed.

As I am having unrelated driver problems, I do shut down when I stop using the machine. if I don't shutdown between activations, Patrician 3 crashes everytime. If as I usually do I shut down after using my computer, Patrician works fine on the next startup. What appears to happen is that Patrician 3 makes changes to WIndows, at least that is the dialogue I get when I first run it says.
